Mitsubishi is a company that has always believed in community involvement. In Canada, the MMSCAN (Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada) division has been involved in the fight against food insecurity across the country for the past three years.
In all, $400,000 has been raised to support this cause and help food banks.
This year, MMSCAN has just announced that it is strengthening its partnership with Food Banks Canada in order to step up its support for food banks located in the communities served by its dealerships.
This commitment is marked this year by a national campaign that got underway on September 1, and will run until September 30. The campaign, called “Driving to End Hunger”, aims to mobilize Mitsubishi dealers across the country to collect donations of money, food and non-perishable goods. This year, a record number of dealers are taking part in the effort, as well as in other initiatives to support food banks.
Nationally, MMSCAN has committed $100,000 to Food Banks Canada. This sum will be used to support programs to combat food insecurity across the country, including in communities where there are no Mitsubishi dealerships.
Kenji Harada, President and CEO of MMSCAN, had this to say about the company's efforts:
“Our slogan is “Drive Your Ambition”. And the “Driving to End Hunger” campaign is a concrete expression of our ambition to help the growing number of Canadians who have difficulty obtaining food to feed their families. I'm delighted that almost all our dealers are taking part in this fantastic initiative this year. It shows that Mitsubishi is a brand that cares about making the world a better place, right down to the local communities.”
Kirstin Beardsley, Executive Director of Food Banks Canada, noted that food bank use has reached record levels in Canadian history, with nearly two million visits in a single month. “At this critical time, Food Banks Canada is grateful for Mitsubishi's continued partnership with the “Drive to End Hunger” campaign. Through this partnership, Mitsubishi is once again supporting Food Banks Canada and the communities across the country that need it most. Thank you for your continued support and for joining us in our mission to alleviate hunger today and prevent hunger tomorrow.”
This year's campaign will see local dealers collecting food and funds from September 1 to 30. Donations will be delivered to local food banks between October 1 and 10, just before Thanksgiving weekend.
Donations can also be made nationally directly to Food Banks Canada via the MMSCAN website at mitsubishi-motors.ca/en/drivingtoendhunger.
With this campaign, Mitsubishi reaffirms its commitment to supporting local communities and contributing to the fight against hunger across the country.
