Action Mitsubishi
In 2023, Mitsubishi enjoyed a record sales year in Canada. At the time, the company promised its stakeholders that 2024 would be even better. This was confirmed by an analysis of Mitsubishi's domestic sales in the third quarter of the year, covering July, August and September.
Specifically, Mitsubishi Canada recorded its best sales ever in September, with 3,372 units sold, for a third-quarter total of 11,454. This represents a 23% improvement on 2023 results for the same period, when the company delivered 9,282 models.
The Outlander PHEV was the star behind this performance, with 1080 units sold in September, 3588 for the whole quarter; last year, 2791 models were delivered during the same period. Since the start of 2024, Mitsubishi has sold 10,287 units of its Outlander PHEV, compared with 7,474 at the same time last year.
Talk about spectacular progress.
Even the regular version of the Outlander is holding its own, with 2471 sales in the third quarter of this year, compared with 2456 last year. We've been dragging our feet a little since the start of the year (7169 sales versus 7416), but 2024 isn't over yet.
The story is the same for the Eclipse Cross; significant gains in the third quarter, and a very slight decline compared to 2024 (114 units). The RVR is a model that enjoyed incredible growth in the third quarter of the year, proof that affordable vehicles are still popular with consumers. In 2023, the company sold 1,893 models in the third quarter. This year, sales exceeded 2,500, with 2,569 units sold.
Even the Mirage, which disappears next year, is up, both for the full year (2167 vs. 1647 sales) and for the third quarter (1301 sales vs. 724 last year).
Since the start of the year, the company has sold 29,693 models; the figure for 2023 was 27,155.
And all this is happening at a time when we know that over the next few years, thanks to its Momentum 2030 plan, Mitsubishi will be introducing at least one new or revised model per year between now and the end of the decade. It's clear, then, that we're not done talking about the growth of Mitsubishi's well-built, ultra-reliable products.
